Frequently Asked Questions

What's your vibe?

My ceremony style is relaxed, warm and genuine, and my delivery light-hearted with just the right amount of sentiment, bringing the fun and the feels. I’m professional and organised so you can relax about the details, and don’t have to sweat the small stuff. I’ll have your guests engaged and entertained with a personal and meaningful ceremony, with zero cheese and no fluffy filler (no-one likes a snooze fest or an aspiring stand-up comedian).

What made you decide to become a celebrant?

In 2014, a friend told me she and her fiancée had thought about who they’d like to marry them, and I was their pick! There was only one problem… I wasn’t actually a celebrant.  So I became qualified, and after working closely with them to create and deliver a completely customised ceremony – my first ever! – I had the love bug and I’ve been marrying couples ever since.

How does the process work?

It depends on the type of ceremony you’re after, but all marriage-making will start with you getting in contact.  Once we’ve established what you’re after ceremony-wise and that I’m the celebrant for you, we need to complete a legal document to lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (at least 30 days out from your ceremony). We’ll then work together to custom-craft a ceremony to fit the brief for YOU as a couple. I have a wealth of knowledge that I’m able to share when it comes to ceremony planning to make the process as seamless as possible for you, and it should be a really fun experience reflecting on your time together, what you love about one another (perhaps any pet peeves too ;)) and why you’re committing to being together for life.

I can provide guidance around the various elements of your ceremony, including ideas for readings and rituals (if that’s your jam), wording for different bits and pieces, and support in writing your vows. I also of course manage all of the legal stuff, including required certificates and other paperwork, plus the registration of your marriage with the relevant state’s Department of Births, Deaths & Marriages post-wedding.

What is your fee?

My services for your wedding include everything from ceremony planning, creating and delivering, to completion of all paperwork and legalities, unlimited communication via phone and email, support and resources for every stage of your ceremony planning, travel to and from your venue, a PA system and mic for the day if required, and the registration of your marriage with the relevant Department of Births, Deaths & Marriages.

Send through an inquiry and I’ll be in touch shortly with information about a package/s suited to you!

I’m confused about the legal side of getting married, what do we have to do?

As a celebrant I’m responsible not only for your ceremony itself, but also all administrative and legal elements – from your Notice of Intended Marriage (at least 30 days before your ceremony) & other certificates required before the ceremony, plus all paperwork post-ceremony, and your application to Births, Deaths and Marriages to register your marriage… plus of course the legal wording required as part of your ceremony to make your marriage legit.

It sounds like a lot, but I’ll take care of all the nitty gritty for you so you can relax and enjoy the fun stuff! In terms of the ceremony there’s very little that’s legally required to get you married – some words that both you and I must say.  (These could be the ONLY words we say in your ceremony and you’d be married!) But ultimately, the only goal is to create a ceremony you love that truly reflects you as a couple, so you can do your day your way.

Will you travel to our wedding?

Who doesn’t love a destination wedding! If you’re getting married beyond Brisbane or even interstate, please get in touch and I’ll provide package details and cost including travel.

How do we find a celebrant who’s right for us? Is it you?

I understand it can be really hard to find a celebrant you connect with unless you’ve seen them do their thing at someone else’s wedding, or you’re referred by a friend or family member. My main recommendations are to look for someone you vibe with, whose style reflects you as a couple, and one you trust to tell your story.  Being organised, supportive and professional are also great qualities to look for. They set the tone for the rest of your day, so to me your celebrant is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your wedding!

You can often get a good idea of someone’s style through their website and/or Instagram profile, but reviews & testimonials are also a great place to gain insight on other couples’ experiences with your vendors. Click here to read love letters from some of my recently-hitched duos.

If you’re liking what you’re seeing but are interested in getting to know me more, get in touch and we can tee up a no-obligations FaceTime chat so you can feel comfortable I’m the celebrant for you!

In the meantime, here are some random facts about me to help you decide…

  • I’ve sung jingles and voiced commercials that have aired on radio across Australia.
  • At school I did allll the things – singing, acting, public speaking, debating, orchestra, choir, sport, athletics, you name it… #nerdalert! I was also the lead in my high school’s production of My Fair Lady, but my subpar dancing abilities render me only a double threat – defffffinitely the only thing holding me back from a professional musical theatre career 😉
  • My own wedding vows included promises to become more of a domestic goddess and to learn to pack lighter for the sake of my husband’s back… I have so far fulfilled neither (sorry Mitch!)
  • When I’m not hitching, I spend most of my time with my husband and three daughters – one fur, two human. If you’re not obsessed with your dog (or other pet children)… we’ll just have to agree to disagree 😛

How do we book you?

Give me your deets, including your wedding date, and I’ll be in touch to let you know if I’m available. I’ll look forward to hearing from you!
